It is a great time to be a Business Catalyst Partner with the announcement that Adobe have acquired the company.
Why? Because you can use the Adobe name to give credibility to the system you are building your client’s websites on. And one of the most common concerns clients have when choosing a system is: “Is the system and the company that backs it still going to be around next year?” The answer now is a resounding “Yes – absolutely no question”.
Also of courseĀ Adobe themselves have not yet announced the acquisition, so you don’t have a flood of Web developer compeditors clambering to be partners.
Adobe is not going to compete with it’s partners, so Good Barry is being phased out. That means you can use the GoodBarry free trial style site without clients recongnizing it as a copy.
Adobe is a great company to be able to work with – they make software that empowers web developers and have a good understanding of the needs of web developers. They have a history of not messing with programs that are working, but simply evolving them which should mean no drastic changes that effect your ability to deliver solutions for clients. It should in fact mean a lot more functionality – Perhaps we will get some real Web 2.0 functionality that is becoming so popular with clients.
Meanwhile, if you’re a Business Catalyst partner, go out and sell with confidence and the backing of the Adobe brand! And if you’re a web developer who is not, it’s certainly worth considering.
